University of Toledo student Ramla Fiqi, PA-S, earns a "Be The Change" Grant
OAPA is proud to recognize University of Toledo PA student Ramla Fiqi, PA-S, for recently winning a Be The Change Grant from the nccPA Health Foundation!
According to their mission, "the nccPA Health Foundation equips and empowers Certified PAs and PA students to improve health through grant programs and initiatives that foster the quality and accessibility of health care." The nccPA Health Foundation's Be The Change grant program supports PAs and PA students who design and execute activities that expand access to health promotion, education, and treatment as strategies for fostering more equitable care.
The workshop will include culturally relevant education, hands-on training, community and bilingual resources, and necessary supplies. Her work strives to equip community members to participate in their own care, monitor their blood sugar levels, and adopt healthier lifestyles.
When asked about her achievement, Ramla states “I'm incredibly honored to receive the NCCPA Health Foundation Be the Change Grant. As a Somali-American PA student, I’m passionate about advancing health equity through culturally tailored education. This grant will support my project, which aims to increase awareness, promote healthier lifestyle choices, and improve self-monitoring among community members at risk for or who have type 2 diabetes.”
Congratulations to Ramla Fiqi, PA-S, for positively impacting the community and being recognized for the effort with a Be The Change grant!
